My Photography

Welcome! This website is a place for me to document the photos I've taken, my thoughts about them, and my general process. I've been taking photos since elementary school, but it's really become a major hobby of mine in the past two years. You'll see film photos and digital photos, photos from SLRs, DSLRs, polaroids, point-and-shoots, disposable cameras, and even an iPhone photo or two. I mostly take photos around the Bay Area and USC, but you'll also see shots from the Central Coast, San Francisco, Nevada, Idaho, Montana, and even France!

In addition to just displaying my photos, I'll also detail my thoughts about them: what I like/dislike about a photo, why I chose to take it in a certain way, or just interesting context behind it. For example, I took this long-exposure shot of a street in LA before I owned a tripod - so I had to prop my camera up on a pile of books in my apartment building's stairwell!

I'm also interested in the mechanics of cameras, optics, and light, so you'll see me explain not just what gear I use, and why I use it, but how some of it actually works! In particular, on the Experiments page, I'll go into detail about how color photography was done before the invention of color film, and why the lowest-resolution camera I own is also one of the most interesting! I hope you enjoy taking a look around.
